FAQ
The questions we get. If yours isn't here, write to us — it might be here next week.
Getting started
What is Apneist Pro?
A network for freedivers: your profile with your bests and certificates, the people and clubs around you, the calendar of competitions, records and rankings, and a place to talk. It started in Moldova and is open to any freediver anywhere. New to the sport? Start with What is freediving.
Is it free?
Yes. Everything you see today is free and will stay free. A paid tier with extras may come later; nothing that is free now will move behind it.
How do I create an account?
With Google or with an e-mail and password on the sign-up page. While the site is in testing, only invited addresses can join — any freediver who is already here can invite you from their Invite page (up to ten friends each), or write to us.
How do I invite a friend?
Invite a freediver — their e-mail and a line from you; they get a letter with the link. Ten invitations each.
I can't sign in.
If you signed up with Google, use the Google button — there is no password to type. Otherwise reset the password: the letter arrives within a minute (check spam once). Still stuck? Tell us which address you used.
Can I change my e-mail or password?
Yes — in your menu, E-mail and password. A change of e-mail is confirmed from both the old and the new address.
Results and records
How do I add a personal best?
On your profile, in Personal bests, press the discipline (or + Add): the result, the date, where, and a video link if you have one. Your bests are kept for STA, DYN, DYNB, DNF, CWT, CWTB, CNF and FIM.
Why does my best say “only you see it”?
A best you entered yourself is shown to other people only once somebody who was there confirms it. Open the best and ask a witness — a freediver on the site who saw the dive, a buddy, a coach, a judge. They get a message with one button. Until then the result is visible to you alone, and it is not in the rankings.
What about official results?
Results published by AIDA and CMAS come in on their own and are marked as official — they never need a witness. Link your AIDA athlete page once (on your profile, next to Personal bests) and the site re-reads it regularly. CMAS championship protocols are read from the federation and matched to profiles by name and country.
My AIDA page isn't found, or the result is wrong.
Paste the address of your athlete page from aida.international by hand in the same place. If a result on your profile differs from the federation's, write to us with the link — we check by hand.
How are the rankings counted?
Per discipline, per country and worldwide, from official results and witnessed bests. The Records page — world, continental and national — is read from AIDA and CMAS, and every best on the site is measured against it.
Where do my certificates go?
Achievements on your profile. Upload a photo or a scan; a person on our side checks it and it gets a verified mark. The scan itself is private — people see the level, the school and the year, not the document.
People, clubs, messages
How do I find freedivers near me?
The map shows everyone who has set a city, and Near me lists who is close. Freedivers can be filtered by country, level and discipline. Following someone puts their posts in your feed.
Can my club or school have a page?
Yes — create a page for a club, a school, a shop or a federation. We look at it before it goes public (usually the same day). A page has posts, events with sign-up, a team, a place on the map, and its own group chat.
Who can message me?
Any freediver on the site, unless you have blocked them. Messages can be text, photos, voice, stickers and GIFs. A blocked person cannot write to you, see your posts, or find you on the map.
How do I report a person or a post?
Use Report under a post, a profile or a club page, or write to us. We answer every report.
Privacy and your data
Who sees what on my profile?
You choose in Privacy (in your menu), for each part — everyone, only people who follow you, or only you. Your e-mail is never shown to anyone. Details are in the privacy policy.
Can I hide my profile?
Yes — Hide my profile at the bottom of Edit profile. A hidden profile is off the map, out of search and out of the rankings; only you see it. Everything comes back when you untick it.
How do I delete my account?
At the bottom of Edit profile. Everything is deleted at once — profile, bests, posts, messages, photos — and it cannot be undone. Official federation results stay with the federation, of course.
The app, the phone, the look
Is there an app?
The site is the app: open apneist.pro on your phone and add it to the home screen (Safari: Share → Add to Home Screen; Chrome: menu → Add to Home screen). It opens full-screen and shows notifications. A store app is on the road map.
Notifications don't arrive.
Switch them on in Notification settings and allow them in the browser. On iPhone they work only from the home-screen icon, not from Safari itself. E-mail reminders about competitions and witness requests come regardless.
Dark theme?
At the bottom of every page: Auto (follows your phone or computer), Light, or Dark.
Other languages?
English for now, so that a freediver from anywhere reads the same page. Romanian and Russian are planned.
The countdown — what is it for?
The Countdown is a competition-style official-top timer with the spoken count, for training and for running a small competition. It keeps the screen awake and speaks the count, so the phone can lie by the pool.
Read about the sport itself in What is freediving.
